A newly formed professional football club, Solomon Kings FC, has today been identified as a preferred club, subject to the final stages of the licensing and compliance process, in the groundbreaking OFC Pro League to commence in January 2026.

Solomon Kings FC is a collaboration between the Solomon Island Football Federation and Wynnum Wolves Football Club to promote and grow football in the Solomon Islands and harness the enormous untapped potential of the region where football reigns as the No.1 sport.

The Solomon Islands and Wynnum Wolves FC have an extensive shared football history stretching back to the mid-1990s making this latest intersection between these two entities a harmonious and logical next step when the concept of the Oceania Pro League was developed.

Solomon Kings FC are pleased to announce, Mr Don Marahare, as the Club's inaugural Chairman, whilst Wynnum Wolves FC President, Rabieh Krayem, has been named Vice-Chairman having worked closely with the team in the lead-up to today's exciting announcement.

"We are honoured and excited that Solomon Kings FC has been confirmed as a preferred club in the inaugural Oceania Football Confederation Professional League. This milestone is a proud moment for the entire Solomon Islands football community and an important step in developing the game across our nation and the wider Oceania region as we look ahead to commencing in January 2026," Chairman Marahare said.

"We encourage all football fans in the Solomon Islands and the broader Pacific diaspora to jump on board and support the club as we embark on this once in a lifetime opportunity."

Solomon Kings will be one of eight clubs to make the inaugural Oceania Pro League. In addition to the Solomon Kings there will be teams from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, Tahiti and Australia.

The OFC Pro League [OFCPL] will be fully supported by FIFA to deliver professional football to the Oceania region for the very first time.

The 2026 competition will be at the peak of the professional environment to give the best male players in Oceania the opportunity to thrive. Previously these players could only seek professional opportunities away from home.

All teams will feature a majority of home-grown players from their own island nations with further provision for six [6] Visa players to join each squad, three of which must be drawn from other OFC Member Federations.

The first season of the OFCPL will take place between January and June 2026 with the eight clubs playing in a 6-round circuit series of games around Oceania and Australia, featuring 2-3 games per round for each team. A round of play-off matches will then be held, leading into a Grand Final to determine the inaugural OFCPL Champions.

Solomon Kings now enters the next phase of its development – active recruitment of new commercial partners for this exciting project, the appointment of a head coach and staff and the identification and signing of players for its inaugural squad.

Vice-Chairman of the Solomon Kings, Mr. Rabieh Krayem, says, "This is an historic moment for our community football club at Wynnum Wolves and we are extremely honoured to be building on our wonderful shared history with our great football friends in the Solomon Islands to create new opportunities for players in the Solomon Islands and at Wynnum," he said.
